What is a blog?
“Blog” is the combination of two words – “web” and “log.”
It’s written content (generally meant to instruct or be informational in nature) on a website.
Dr. Monique Y. Wells created a food blogging course for youth in support of the collaborative Creole Culinary Arts program that WIF designed for Marion P. Thomas Charter School with the Academy of Culinary Art for the Creole World.
The course is intended to deliver the following outcomes:
- Improve students’ writing skills.
- Improve students’ oral communication skills.
- Improve students’ technology skills.
Dr. Wells developed the course based on experience gleaned from WIF’s established relationships with more than 100 local Parisian restaurants and renowned chefs operating in Paris and the U.S., as well as over twelve years of experience in travel blogging and publishing restaurant reviews.
This six-week course is suitable for middle school and high school students interested in cooking, food culture, and Internet communications. It opens a path to opportunities for students to connect with youth who have similar interests around the world. It also provides a fun, hands-on opportunity to explore the fields of culinary arts, journalism, and graphic design.
If you are a middle school or high school educator, or if you operate a community service group that caters to these students, contact us to learn how you can provide this course for your youth.
