Our Initiatives

The Wells International Foundation (WIF) is a strong believer in the movement from STEM to STEAM—adding the arts to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Creativity and innovation do not develop in isolation, and some of history’s greatest thinkers brought artistic imagination to scientific and technical work.

Through our STEAM SFA, we help women, children, and youth—especially those of African descent—embrace STEAM pathways and pursue them with confidence. We believe artistic development can strengthen curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving, all of which are essential for success in STEAM fields.

We provide opportunities for:

  • Educators to integrate the arts into the teaching of math and science.
  • Children and youth to discover and engage in STEAM activities
  • Women in college and graduate programs to strengthen their chances for success in STEAM disciplines.

We also recognize that technology can be a powerful way to introduce the arts to audiences who may otherwise have limited access to them.

You can create tangible, positive change in people’s lives

STEAM programs “educate both halves of the brain and prepare students for success in a world that values a well-rounded and innovative workforce.”

~ Representative Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR)
