Going Global with Barbara

GOING GLOBAL WITH BARBARA:
INTERNATIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

WIF is proud to partner with Going Global with Barbara, an organization devoted to exposing African-American youth to the possibilities that exist through travel and study abroad, on its International Youth Leadership Program.  Founder Barbara Eubanks brought eight high school students (five females and three males) to Paris on the organization’s first excursion in April 2022.

For this trip, WIF organized a visit to the American University of Paris, a university-focused Entrée to Black Paris tour, and a networking dinner with Black university students from several universities and members of L’ACICS, an organization devoted to exposing people of all ages to the depth and breadth of the contributions Black people have made to civilization throughout the ages.

AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF PARIS

Andrea Christmas of AUP admissions talked with the students at length about what to think about when applying to college in general and to AUP in particular.

Afterward, AUP junior Fatimata Djibrine met the group at admissions and served as their campus guide.

ENTREE TO BLACK PARIS WALKING TOUR

WIF Founder & CEO, Dr. Monique Y. Wells, is also a co-owner of Entrée to Black Paris.  She led the group on ETBP’s Black Paris after World War II tour, the first part of which focuses heavily on Paris universities.

NETWORKING DINNER AT LE WIRI WIRI

Students from the Paris Music Conservatory, the American Business School, and the American University of Paris joined the Going Global cohort for a wonderful meal.

“HOT POT” FAREWELL DINNER

Fatimata Djibrine, the student guide at AUP, invited the entire group to a meal at a Chinese restaurant the day before they departed for the U.S.  “Hot Pot” was a new dining experience for all of us!
