Classes Duo Paris / New England, our arts program based on the life and music of Carole Denise Fredericks (1952-2001) and organized in collaboration with the City of Paris and the Carole D. Fredericks Foundation, auspiciously began in September 2020. The first year of activity culminated in the screening of “Leçon Blues,” a mini-documentary about Fredericks’ life created by 7- to 10-year-old students from Maurice Rouvier Elementary School, at a Paris cinema.
Aurélien Rudelle and Nicolas Roux, the educators who implemented the program, were so encouraged by their students’ positive response and personally inspired by Fredericks’ story that they willingly undertook a second year of activity. They worked with twenty-one six-year-old Maurice Rouvier students and once again shared Fredericks’ life through videography.
Connie Fredericks-Malone, director of the Carole D. Fredericks Foundation and sister of the deceased artist, serves as the vibrant thread that has guided the project since its inception. Due to pandemic restrictions, she was not able to personally meet the students who participated during the 2020-2021 academic year.

This year’s students fared much better – they were able to meet with Fredericks-Malone on three different occasions during Spring 2022.
