A Campaign for Growth and Sustainability
The Wells International Foundation’s (WIF) is a U. S. non-profit organization whose mission is to empower women, children and youth, and persons of African descent to realize their highest potential through arts, literacy, study abroad, and other educational and cultural programs. We are building a network of global citizens who embrace inclusiveness and foster a spirit of cooperation throughout the world.
On October 1, 2025, we celebrated our 10th anniversary and embarked on our second decade of service!
Our Legacy of Leadership campaign will provide the funds to fuel the sustainability and expansion of our flagship programs in the arts, STEAM education/literacy, women's empowerment, and travel/study abroad for years to come.
OUR HISTORY
For the past ten years, WIF has flourished because of the vision, generosity, and leadership of supporters who seek to leave a lasting mark on the world.
Thanks to contributors like you, our programs, partnerships, and mentoring have transformed lives across our Arts, STEAM Education, Literacy, Travel/Study Abroad, and Women’s Empowerment Strategic Focus Areas (SFAs).
Our Beauford Delaney: Resonance of Form and Vibration of Color exhibition in Paris launched our Arts, Travel/Study Abroad, and STEAM Education SFAs in 2016.
We began working with high-achieving women leaders through the L³ Alliance in 2016 as well.
And we launched our Literacy SFA in collaboration with the Houston Public Library in Houston, TX in 2017.
The momentum we’ve built through our projects and programs is both a testament to the power of our vision and a call to action for what needs to follow as we pursue our mission.

Our five Strategic Focus Areas (SFAs)—The Arts, STEAM Education, Literacy, Travel/Study Abroad, and Women’s Empowerment—form a comprehensive ecosystem of impact that is as dynamic as it is deliberate.
This diversity of focus is not a distraction—it is our strength.
Each of our projects and programs combines relevant SFAs to amplify impact by addressing immediate needs and simultaneously driving long-term change:
- Through The Arts, we champion creativity, storytelling, and cultural preservation, ensuring that underrepresented voices are seen and heard.
- Our investment in STEAM Education builds bridges to the future, empowering young people—particularly those from historically excluded communities—to lead in science, technology, and creative innovation.
- We support Literacy as the foundation of opportunity; it is where every other success begins.
- Our Travel and Study Abroad programs expand global perspectives and deepen cultural understanding, fostering empathy and other elements of emotional intelligence in an increasingly interconnected world.
- And through our Women’s Empowerment initiative, we invest in the self-awareness, authenticity, and aligned action of women leaders who uplift entire communities.
Together, these SFAs create a an expanding ripple of positive change—one that donors and partners recognize as rare, robust, and sustainable.

L³ Alliance
• Peer-to-peer and intergenerational mentoring since 2021 (our 1st peer-to-peer project contributed to the serviced of 20,000 youth—a 4-fold increase in reach for the mentored team)
• Emerging 2026 flagship program for values-driven women leaders - Be Your Authentic Self in Business
Youth Veterinarian Initiative (YVI)
• Black and Latino/Hispanic youth ages 9–17; book club, podcast, mindfulness
• 6 U.S. cities → expanding to Dublin, Ireland
• ~920 youth served since 2021
ELEVATE Aviation Program
• Exposing Black youth to aviation + global career opportunities
• United Airlines partnership in Philadelphia and Houston
• ~311 youth served since 2024
The Beauford Delaney Project (NEW!)
• Scholarship fund across multiple disciplines
• University of Tennessee Knoxville study abroad program (Paris) → expanding nationally
• Digital hub celebrating Delaney’s legacy

History proves that when women of color rise, entire communities thrive and society becomes more just and equitable. The L³ Alliance is not only committed to holistically support BIPOC women and their sister allies, but also to strategically reshaping our world by equipping, strengthening, and celebrating the women leaders whose vision and courage are the catalyst for far reaching positive change.
Your gift will ensure that women leaders of all backgrounds receive comprehensive support, tools, and accountability so they can maximize their influence and impact with clarity, authenticity, and aligned action.
Youth Veterinarian Initiative
The health and well being of animals, humans, and the environment will be best served when developing culturally competent veterinarians becomes a priority. A severe shortage of veterinarians is predicted by 2030. To address this deficit, we need to begin encouraging young people across the demographic of the U.S. to pursue the field.
Your gift will support YVI's mission to encourage Black and Latino youth to consider a career in veterinary medicine, thereby responding to the predicted 2030 shortage with a group of interculturally aware professionals.
ELEVATE Aviation Program
As the U.S. unemployment rate ticks upward, new graduates face intense competition for every open position. Employers want adaptable, globally aware hires—specifically those with international experience. Travel and study abroad provide students with an economic advantage in addition to providing them with an invaluable opportunity for personal development.
Your gift will open doors to aviation careers and travel worldwide that will engender global readiness and economic opportunity for Black and Latino youth.
The Beauford Delaney Project
Documenting, archiving, and presenting art forms—especially those rooted in Black, Indigenous, and other historically marginalized cultures whose relevance to society is being undermined—is particularly important today. In uncertain times, art gives people the courage to imagine better futures. Beauford Delaney’s art is a prime example of creation being evidence of the hope and courage of the artist and the resulting work inspiring hope in others.
Your gift will help preserve and expand the story of this brilliant, yet still under recognized Black modernist painter through travel abroad and digital storytelling as well as empower new generations of scholars.
