ABOUT AMERICAN BUSINESS WOMEN’S DAY / INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS WOMEN’S DAY
Generation after generation, businesswomen nurture new and inspiring leaders to greatness.
Since the 1940s with the advent of WWII, women have played an increasingly significant role in global business. On September 22nd, American Business Women’s Day honors the accomplishments of the businesswomen across the nation.
In the USA, the American Businesswomen’s Association sponsored the first American Business Women’s Day in 1982. Congress officially recognized the day through proclamations in 1983 and 1986.
Over the years, with the growth of women-owned businesses into the global market, September 22 has become recognized as International Business Women’s Day. It is WIF’s privilege to honor the expanding success women have achieved globally in the world of business.
International Business Women’s Day is a day to recognize the work that been done by pioneering women to create a level playing field in all industries around the world and the work that is still to be accomplished.
It is a day to celebrate achievements, pay tribute to those who played a major role in making them, and reconfirm our commitment to nurturing the young women driven to become leaders themselves.
